Handwriting | The Why, What, and How

Handwriting | The Why, What, and How

Before children can begin copywork they need to know how to write their letters. Over the years I’ve figured out a good method and resources for teaching handwriting. In this audio lesson you’ll learn:

1. When to begin

2. Which resources I recommend

2. How to teach handwriting using Charlotte Mason’s methods

Resources

I use Creative Form Drawing for handwriting and drawing exercises. These exercises help children practice the most basic strokes, like straight lines, curves, circles, and angles.

My favorite handwriting program is Italics: Beautiful Handwriting for Children. I’ve tried Good and Beautiful, Handwriting Without Tears, and this by far the best, in my opinion. Penny Gardner studied the New Handwriting mentioned in Home Education and made a comprehensive program based on Charlotte’s method and philosophy.
